The police elements in the Tangier Security Directorate managed, on Wednesday, June 3, to arrest a 26-year-old German citizen, as he is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the German judicial authorities. This is due to suspicions of his involvement in kidnapping, abduction, threats, and extortion accompanied by violence and intimidation.
The arrest of the suspect took place in the context of coordination and information exchange between the General Directorate of National Security and the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspected German citizen managed to use travel documents and identity papers belonging to another person to enter the national territory.
Information contained in the international arrest warrant issued against the suspect, for which a red notice was issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), indicates that he was involved in 2021 in committing crimes on German soil, including kidnapping and detaining a person and subjecting him to extortion and violence using dangerous materials.
The suspect has been placed under police custody in light of the judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecution, to uncover the conditions and circumstances of his use of documents in another person’s name and impersonation. Meanwhile, the Rabat Interpol office has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in Germany of the arrest in connection with the extradition process.
This qualitative operation, according to a security source, comes within the framework of activating the General Directorate of National Security’s procedures for international security cooperation, with the aim of arresting and pursuing individuals wanted internationally in cross-border crime cases.
