حمودي launches new security plans to confront stadium riots.

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, chaired a working meeting at the new headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security in Rabat on Wednesday, June 3, dedicated to evaluating and developing security protocols to address crowd disturbances and manifestations of violence that accompany certain matches and sports events.

This meeting was attended by various central directors overseeing public security, judicial police, and general intelligence, in addition to the head of the central department responsible for sports security. This was a precursor to similar meetings that will include all regional security officials, with the aim of updating security measures in line with the football scene in Morocco and presenting an integrated strategy that allows for the security of sports events and combating various manifestations of violence related to sports.

The meeting was distinguished by presentations in the field of sports security, which analyzed in detail the effectiveness of implementing security and order protocols in sports stadiums, and assessed their levels of success during major sports events and decisive matches hosted by the kingdom recently.

The meeting also discussed activating a new package of preventive security measures and integrated work programs to enhance security in stadiums and national sports venues, especially those based on strengthening communication and coordination with all stakeholders and actors in the sports field, in addition to adopting work plans that combine modern technology and immediate responses to the standards imposed by international sports organizations.

Hammouchi emphasized during this meeting the necessity of raising the readiness of the forces responsible for securing sports events and aligning regulatory work plans with the risks posed by each event individually, and when necessary, deploying all specialized forces and intervention units to ensure respect for the law and maintain public order during sports events.

Hammouchi also directed to integrate modern technologies into sports security protocols, including surveillance cameras and drones tasked with monitoring crowds, as well as ensuring inter-coordination between various components of operational public forces, or those responsible for collecting, analyzing, and utilizing field data in stadiums and their surroundings.

In this context, the Director General of National Security emphasized the need to capitalize on the successful achievements that the national security services have accumulated during their organization of major sports events, such as the Africa Cup of Nations and other continental sports events hosted by Morocco throughout the year.

This meeting comes in the context of the General Directorate of National Security’s preparations to accompany and secure various sports events taking place in Morocco. It also reflects the firm will to definitively eliminate various forms of sports violence that undermine sportsmanship and the international reputation of our country.
