The advisor in the Benimakada district, Jamal Al-Auwami, sparked controversy again during the district session held on Wednesday, June 3, after making statements described as offensive to female advisors.
In his speech, Al-Auwami appeared to want to amend the comments he made, which were deemed disrespectful to women. He offered an apology to women and stated that he could not offend respectable Moroccan women.
What is even stranger is when the advisor said that his love for women is evidence of his respect and defense for them, as demonstrated by his care for the grave of his deceased wife, despite the neglect that the Douar Al-Aouama cemetery suffers.
Just seconds after his “alleged apology” to Moroccan women, the advisor ignited the district session by calling for the return of women who practice “tannawi” to their homes, claiming that this would help reduce unemployment.
This statement angered women in the session and was considered an unacceptable insult, which led to a vote to expel him from the meeting.
