The Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, today, Wednesday, published a video on the platform X showing how Israeli security forces treated foreign activists detained within the “Global Sumud” flotilla, labeling them as “terrorism advocates”. Ben Gvir wrote in Hebrew: “This is how we greet terrorism advocates,” adding in English: “Welcome to Israel.”
The video shows large groups of detainees kneeling or lying on the ground outside near shipping containers, under heavy guard, some of whom are masked or handcuffed.
This comes in the context of the Israeli navy’s detention of activists from the “Global Sumud Flotilla,” which was attempting to reach the Gaza Strip loaded with humanitarian aid. The flotilla includes activists from multiple countries such as the United States, Spain, Turkey, France, Morocco, and others.
Strike of Moroccan Activists
Moroccan participants in the flotilla had announced their entrance into an open hunger strike, in protest against the illegal interception and their forced detention.
The Moroccan branch of the flotilla called for urgent action from Moroccan authorities and all relevant parties to ensure their immediate release and protection.
