A investigation has been launched at the port of Tangier City with 24 individuals, including police officers, DST agents, and customs officials, following suspicions of abuse of power by intervening on behalf of individuals to avoid customs inspection, in exchange for financial commissions as a form of bribery.
The National Judicial Police Brigade has opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to verify the criminal acts attributed to the twenty-four individuals, including six police officers, six employees of a local national territory observation unit, and two customs agents.
It is suspected that the accused were involved in failing to carry out their official duties for the purpose of bribery, abusing their influence, and participating in the smuggling of foreign goods and merchandise.

The same source clarified that the investigations and inquiries conducted allowed for the identification of many individuals who benefited from the alleged collusion operations, aimed at violating customs monitoring operations, in addition to identifying the employees suspected of involvement in these violations and criminal acts committed.
It was added that all suspects have been subjected to judicial investigation proceedings by order of the public prosecutor, to determine the level and extent of their involvement in the violations and crimes committed, while investigations and inquiries continue to uncover all contributors, participants, and beneficiaries of the recorded criminal acts.
