Decision to Continue the Suspension of Studies in Tetouan, Chefchaouen, and Ouezzane

The regional directorates for National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports in the regions of Tetouan, Ouezzane, and Al Hoceima announced today, Monday, the continued temporary suspension of classes until next Wednesday, while classes will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, in educational institutions in the Tanger-Asilah region.

Thus, the regional directorate for the Tanger-Asilah region announced that, in implementation of the recommendations of the regional vigilance committee and in coordination with local authorities, “it has been decided to resume in-person classes on Tuesday, February 3, with adjustments to the situation according to weather developments.”

As for the regional directorate for Tetouan, it pointed out that according to the alert bulletin for Monday, February 2, and the relevant weather forecasts, which anticipate heavy rainfall, and considering the state of the rivers in the region and the nature of its mountainous terrain, and in implementation of the recommendations of the regional vigilance cell, and to ensure the safety of students and educational staff, “it has been decided to continue the suspension of classes in all public and private educational institutions in the Tetouan region on Tuesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 4.”

For its part, the regional directorate for National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports in Ouezzane announced that, following the alert bulletin related to the weather disturbances affecting Morocco, which placed Ouezzane region at a “red” alert level, and following the increase in the water levels of many rivers and watercourses in the region, and in implementation of the recommendations of the regional vigilance cell, and in coordination with regional authorities, and to ensure the safety of students and educational staff and all users of educational institutions, “it has been decided to suspend classes on Tuesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 4, in all public and private educational institutions in both urban and rural areas of Ouezzane region.”

The regional directorate for Al Hoceima also made the same decision to continue the temporary suspension of classes on Tuesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 4, as part of the precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and educational staff and all users of public and private educational institutions, including boarding schools.

It should be noted that classes in the Larache region have been suspended from Monday, February 2, to Saturday, February 7, in all educational institutions, both public and private, located within the borders of the municipality of Ksar al-Kebir, with distance learning being activated to make up for the sessions affected by this decision.

The regional directorate for Chefchaouen had previously announced the decision to suspend classes in all public and private institutions in the region on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, to ensure the safety of students and educational staff and users, adding that the situation will be updated according to weather developments.

In the Mdiq-Fnideq region, the regional directorate decided to temporarily suspend classes today, Monday, February 2, in the educational institutions located in the territories of the two municipalities Alouin and Bouillon, and also exceptionally in the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq School and Al-Massira Al-Khadra High School in the Bouzghlal neighborhood in Mdiq Municipality, and in the Tariq Ibn Ziyad School in Fnideq Municipality, adding that it will closely monitor the developments of the weather situation in continuous coordination with vigilance committees to take all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and educational staff.

The regional directorate in the Fahs-Anjra region had previously urged school principals to take all precautionary measures as decided by local vigilance cells regarding the temporary suspension of classes or not on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, in coordination with local authorities, parents’ associations, and all partners.
