The General Directorate of National Security denied the claims made by the French newspaper “Le Point” regarding the assault and burning of shops owned by migrants from sub-Saharan African countries.
The Directorate confirmed that it was highly astonished by the content of an article published by the French weekly “Le Point” in its issue released on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. This article contained a series of false allegations, claiming that several commercial shops owned by citizens from sub-Saharan Africa in Morocco had been subjected to criminal attacks and fires in the wake of the final of the African Cup of Nations (CAN).
The General Directorate of National Security categorically denied all the events mentioned in the publication, asserting that no assault or criminal attack targeting commercial shops or economic interests belonging to citizens from sub-Saharan Africa had been recorded throughout the national territory, either during the competition or after the final match.
The Directorate indicated that throughout this tournament, it had undertaken to handle digital content promoting false information regarding alleged assaults on citizens from sub-Saharan Africa with the utmost vigilance. These false news reports have been systematically refuted through official statements, aimed at accurately and objectively correcting the facts.
The Directorate emphasized that its specialized communication services remain in a state of ongoing readiness to respond to media inquiries. These services are fully prepared to provide any precise information that falls within the jurisdiction of national security. However, no prior request for information had been directed to these services regarding the false claims published in the French weekly’s article.
