The recent rains, which poured down in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, have revitalized the water reserves of the major dams within the jurisdiction of the Loukos Water Basin Agency, where the filling rate has surpassed 61 percent as of today, Monday, while the percentage remains low in the main Tangier dam 9 April?
Data from the “Ma Dialina” platform, affiliated with the Ministry of Equipment and Water, indicate that the total water reserve in the region’s dams has reached 1,182.9 million cubic meters, with a filling rate of 61.9 percent, an increase of more than 312 million cubic meters compared to the level recorded before the onset of weather disruptions in December of last year.
The water reserve of the Wadi Makhazin dam in Larache, the largest dam in the region, is about 664.8 million cubic meters, with a filling rate of nearly 98 percent of its total capacity, while the Dar Khroufa dam stores 110.2 million cubic meters, equivalent to 22 percent of its capacity.
As for the dams located in the administrative area of Tangier-Assilah, the “9 April 1947” dam has a reserve of 68.8 million cubic meters (22 percent), while the Ibn Battuta dam holds nearly 26.5 million cubic meters (91 percent).
In the dams located within the jurisdiction of the Tetouan province, the water reserve of the Sharif Idrissi dam is 121.65 million cubic meters (100 percent), while the Khroub dam has 116.7 million cubic meters (91 percent), and the Nakhlah dam 4.21 million cubic meters (100 percent), while the water reserve of the Chefchaouen dam is approximately 12.24 million cubic meters (100 percent).
In the province of Mdiq-Fnideq, the Smir dam registers a reserve of 28.5 million cubic meters (73 percent), while in the Al Fass-Ibn Jeddou district, the reserve of the Moulay Hassan Ben Al Mahdi dam is 11.8 million cubic meters (50 percent), and the reserve of the Tangier Med dam is 14.2 million cubic meters (64 percent).
In the Al Hoceima province, the reserve of the Abdelkarim El Khattabi dam reaches 2.2 million cubic meters (19 percent), and the reserve of the Juma dam is 0.7 million cubic meters (13 percent).
It is worth noting that the data indicate that the total water reserve in all major dams in the national territory reaches 7,123 million cubic meters, with a filling rate of nearly 42.5 percent.
