Stiam, along with the company “Trans Dev,” has obtained a contract for the operation of bus transport services for a duration of 10 years. Starting from the morning of Monday, December 15, the residents of the city will be able to benefit from the new buses.
After the end of the “Alsa” era, a new tripartite system for the delegated management of the bus transport sector was adopted, consisting of the Bougaza Intercommunal Cooperation Institution, the “Tangier Mobility” company, and the operating company of the sector.
The contract was signed on Friday, December 12, and extends for a duration of 10 years. Through it, “E’ssal” — which is 51 percent owned by Stiam and 49 percent by Trans Dev — will manage and operate the public bus transport network, as well as modernize the service by renewing the fleet, enhancing its capacity, and incorporating innovative technological solutions, along with raising quality standards, accessibility, safety, and the efficiency of public service.
According to the new system, “Tangier Mobility” will be the actual owner of the equipment, including buses, infrastructure, and electronic systems, whether they are information systems, ticketing, or passenger information.
As for the Bougaza Institution, which plays the role of the “delegator” and with which the contract has been signed, it is expected to take on the role of governance, setting objectives, and monitoring quality, safety, and compliance with public service, in addition to overseeing the delegated company and investment.
