The Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch conducted discussions on Thursday, December 4, in the capital Madrid, with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. This was within the framework of the 13th session of the high-level Morocco-Spain meeting.
During this meeting, the officials confirmed that the convening of the thirteenth session of the high-level meeting reflects the strength of friendship and the quality of relations between the two countries. It also reflects a convergence of viewpoints and confirms the shared will to jointly envision the future.
The two sides also indicated that this high-level meeting is part of a political dynamic supported by the enlightened vision of the leaders of the two countries, King Mohammed VI and King Felipe VI. They expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing follow-up of the implementation of the Moroccan-Spanish roadmap established in April 2022.
Both parties noted that organizing this session, which comes after the 2023 session and ten years after the previous meeting held in Madrid in 2015, highlights the need to maintain a regular pace for these meetings and consider adopting a phased evaluation, praising the positive dynamic that characterizes bilateral relations.
The discussions between Akhannouch and Sanchez also provided an opportunity to emphasize the necessity of subjecting priority files listed within the 2022 roadmap to evaluation in an atmosphere of trust and consultation. They stressed the importance of activating parliamentary cooperation mechanisms as a fundamental tool that enables the two governments to fulfill their joint commitments.
Upon his arrival at the Palacio de la Moncloa, the Prime Minister was welcomed by his Spanish counterpart, before the two officials proceeded to salute the two national flags to the tunes of the national anthems of the countries, and reviewed a formation of a mixed battalion that rendered them military honors.
