The political bureau of the National Rally of Independents received a single nomination for the presidency of the party from Mohamed Chouki, who is expected to succeed Aziz Akhannouch if elected.
During a meeting on Wednesday, January 28, it was announced that “in accordance with the provisions of the party’s statutes and internal regulations, and after the nomination period for the presidency of the party has ended, the political bureau received the nomination of brother Mohamed Chouki. After studying it, it was decided to refer it to the extraordinary conference in El Jadida on February 7, 2026.”
Aziz Akhannouch had announced that he would not run for a third term at the head of the National Rally of Independents, indicating that he wishes to avoid repetition in the democratic experience and to present a civilized image of the party.
