🔥 ‘Mysterious’ Virus Spreads in Chicken Farms in Morocco

A recent scientific study revealed the actual spread of avian adenoviruses (FAdV) within chicken farms in Morocco. This was after analyzing samples from the Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, and Agadir regions.

The study, which analyzed samples from deceased poultry in meat and egg production farms, confirmed the presence of multiple viral strains circulating in these facilities. Some of these are linked to severe disorders in chickens, such as hepatitis and gizzard erosion.

Results from veterinary analyses showed the existence of different viral strains, including: FAdV-11 and FAdV-8b associated with cases of hepatitis, as well as FAdV-1 and FAdV-8a associated with gizzard damage.

This multiplicity indicates that the virus is not an isolated incident but seems to have been circulating among the farms for years, especially with the registration of unusual mortality rates in some farms.

The study published by the “Frontiersin” platform relied on a new high-precision diagnostic technique that enabled the detection of the virus and its spread with very high accuracy. This makes the results closely resemble a real portrayal of what is happening; the FAdV virus is indeed present and spreading within the poultry sector in Morocco.

While the study focused on the birds themselves and did not address the impact of these viruses on human health, specialists state that there is currently no scientific data proving a direct risk to consumer safety. However, additional studies are needed to clarify this precisely in laboratories.
