The Ministry of Health denied that a hospital refused to receive a pregnant woman after she gave birth to a stillborn fetus in one of the tram cars.
The health department said on Saturday, “In response to the incident of a woman giving birth in one of the tram cars, and in order to enlighten public opinion and provide accurate data, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection confirms that it has initiated investigations and opened an inquiry immediately upon receiving the news to cover all the details and circumstances of the incident. These investigations have resulted in the following information:
Regarding the claims about the refusal to receive the individual concerned at Moulay Abdullah Hospital in Salé, the hospital administration and the on-duty medical team have reported that there is no record of the individual accessing the health facility. This was confirmed after reviewing the reception logs, analyzing the surveillance camera recordings, and listening to testimonies from security personnel, where her presence at the hospital was not established.
Field data indicates that the woman went into labor while on the tram in the city of Rabat, where she suffered from severe bleeding that required immediate intervention from civil protection personnel. She was transported to the Souissi maternity hospital, where the on-duty medical team took care of her by examining her, providing necessary treatments, and subjecting her to medical monitoring post-delivery. Unfortunately, it was revealed that the fetus was deceased.
Initial information suggests that the woman has been suffering from psychological disorders for some time, and she is currently being housed at the Razi Hospital for Mental and Psychological Disorders to receive the necessary treatments.”
