Morocco Participates in Official Funeral for Victims of Spain’s Floods

On Wednesday, Morocco participated in an official funeral held in Valencia to honor the victims of the deadly floods that struck eastern and southern Spain in 2024, resulting in over 230 fatalities.

The Kingdom was represented by Karima Benyaich, Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, alongside various Spanish officials and members of the diplomatic corps based in Madrid.

The official funeral was presided over by King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia, attended by high-ranking state authorities and families of the victims, in a solemn atmosphere marked by grief at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Benyaich emphasized that Morocco’s participation in this national tribute expresses “the Kingdom’s solidarity with friendly Spain during this painful time.”

She noted that Morocco has consistently expressed its full support for rescue and reconstruction efforts since the onset of the disaster, highlighting the solidarity initiatives undertaken by the Moroccan community residing in Spain for the benefit of those affected.
