The United Arab Emirates has expressed its full support for Morocco and its legitimate rights in Western Sahara, following a resolution that designates autonomy as the basis for negotiations to resolve the conflict.
On Saturday, Abu Dhabi welcomed Security Council Resolution 2797, which calls for engagement in negotiations based on Morocco’s autonomy proposal. This is seen as a significant step toward achieving a final and sustainable political solution to the issue, in accordance with the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the diplomatic efforts made by the United States in drafting and presenting this resolution, highlighting the importance of resolving disputes through negotiations and peaceful means.
The UAE reaffirmed its steadfast position in solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco and its legitimate rights in Western Sahara, supporting all measures that uphold the security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom, and contribute to enhancing peace, stability, and sustainable prosperity in the region.
