The French authorities, through the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII), have launched a renewed voluntary return program aimed at migrants residing in France illegally, as part of the “organized and humane migration” policy.
The program provides financial and logistical support to facilitate return to their country of origin, including special assistance for social and professional reintegration. It also targets migrants from Morocco.
This initiative focuses on migrants without legal residency, those whose asylum applications have been denied, individuals issued with an order to leave French territory, and those wishing to return voluntarily before the expiration of their legal stay.
Assistance from OFII includes a free airfare ticket from France to Morocco and direct financial support of up to €650 per individual, often provided in cash upon arrival or through offices like Western Union.
The program also covers social and professional reintegration, such as housing, furniture, and medical expenses, alongside support for vocational training or employment, and financing for small business projects. Beneficiaries may receive financial assistance amounting to several thousand euros, depending on the nature of the project and its approval.
Morocco is among the countries where the voluntary return program offers full reintegration support. Returning Moroccan migrants will receive individualized follow-up from local partners of the French Office to help them succeed in their projects or settle their social affairs post-return.
