The Spanish police have arrested a Moroccan individual on charges of raping a 14-year-old Spanish girl in Madrid.
The incident occurred late on Friday night, August 30, just a few meters from a care center for unaccompanied minors, where the 17-year-old suspect resides.
According to the victim’s statement to the police, she was meeting a friend in a nearby park. However, her friend arrived with two other minors of Moroccan origin, both residents of the center. The victim then went with one of them, leaving her alone with the suspect, who took advantage of the situation, forcibly dragged her into the bushes, and raped her.
Local media reports indicate that the girl was screaming for help, prompting a neighbor in one of the adjacent buildings to notify the police.
The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment, while police apprehended the Moroccan minor not far from the scene. He reportedly had escaped from the center by jumping over a fence.
Madrid’s Mayor Isabel Díaz Ayuso commented on the incident, expressing her outrage and criticizing the Spanish president in a post on X. She stated, “Minors are becoming more aggressive every day, arriving in worse conditions. The response from Sánchez’s government is to [increase their numbers and ignore them], while belittling us as officials.”
