Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch emphasized the necessity for collective effort in addressing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI). He called for collaborative thinking and coordination, highlighting the importance of investing in human resources. Akhannouch identified talent, research, and education as the foundations of ethical and sustainable AI.
In a video message at the First National Forum on AI held on July 1 in Salé, he underscored the need to enhance educational systems and promote initiatives that prepare young people for future jobs.
He urged the establishment of clear regulations to ensure effective and trustworthy AI, stressing the need for data protection and the prevention of unethical use. He advocated for governance based on cooperation among governments, the private sector, universities, and civil society.
Akhannouch praised Morocco’s commitment to digital modernization through the “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which has a budget of approximately 11 billion dirhams allocated by the government. This initiative aims to invigorate the digital economy, stimulate job creation, and support digital talent.
The Prime Minister noted that the plan includes training 100,000 young people in digital fields and creating 240,000 job opportunities by 2030.
He regarded the First National Forum on AI as a significant milestone in establishing Morocco’s technological sovereignty, presenting an opportunity to reinforce AI as a supportive element for development. He called for collective action and mobilization of all resources and skills to build responsible and inclusive AI.
