thwarting an Attempt to Smuggle 3 Tons of Drugs

In coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, police in Essaouira successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle three tons and 30 kilograms of hashish on the morning of Tuesday, July 1. Three individuals suspected of being linked to an international drug trafficking network were arrested during the operation.

The security operation took place near the coastal area of Sidi Ishaq, resulting in the confiscation of 80 bundles of hashish, weighing a total of approximately three tons and 30 kilograms, along with 29 plastic containers containing 725 liters of fuel.

Ongoing investigations led to the detention of the three suspects, who were found to be in possession of 1.2 million dirhams, believed to be proceeds from their illegal activities.

The suspects are currently under judicial investigation supervised by the relevant public prosecution to identify further potential connections to this criminal activity and to apprehend additional participants in these offenses.
