The High Commission for Planning has reported an increase in the consumption expenditure of Moroccans. Internal demand rose by 8% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 4% during the same period in 2024.
The report highlights that this demand contributed 8.5 points to economic growth, up from 4.3 points a year earlier. Additionally, the final consumption expenditure growth rate for households increased by 4.4%, compared to 2.8% in the same quarter of the previous year, contributing 2.6 points to economic growth instead of 1.7 points.
Furthermore, total investment formation (including gross fixed capital formation, changes in inventories, and net acquisition of valuables) saw a significant increase of 17.5%, compared to 4.9% during the same period last year, contributing 4.9 points to economic growth, up from 1.4 points.
On the other hand, the growth rate of final consumption expenditure by public administrations slowed from 5.5% in the first quarter of 2024 to 5.2%, with a contribution to growth of 0.9 points, down from 1 point.
