Five Injured in Traffic Collision in Tangier
On Saturday morning, June 21, five individuals sustained injuries in a traffic collision on the Rmilat road in Tangier. The injured were transported to Mohammed V Hospital for medical treatment.
Contrary to earlier reports suggesting fatalities, medical sources confirmed to "Tanja7" that no deaths were recorded. Among the injured were four males and one female.
According to the same source, two individuals—a man and a woman—sustained minor injuries in one vehicle, while three young men in the opposing vehicle suffered severe injuries, including fractures.
In a broader context, the Moroccan National Police reported 35 deaths and 2,775 injuries, with 132 classified as severe, resulting from 2,029 traffic accidents recorded in urban areas during the week of June 9 to 15.
The primary causes of these incidents, as identified by the authorities, include driver inattention, failure to yield, excessive speed, pedestrian inattention, lack of safe distance, improper lane changing, and failure to obey stop signs.
Further, the police noted violations such as improper lane changes, driving on the wrong side, driving under the influence, ignoring red lights, and improper overtaking.
In enforcement efforts, authorities registered 48,855 traffic violations and issued 7,328 reports to the public prosecutor. They collected 41,527 fines, amounting to 8,803,500 dirhams.
Additionally, 4,810 vehicles were towed, and 7,328 documents were confiscated, with 593 vehicles being impounded.
