The Moroccan security presence within the security system for the 2026 World Cup has received commendation from the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel. This was during a visit he made on June 17 to the International Police Cooperation Center in Leesburg, Virginia, USA, which is responsible for coordinating international security efforts for the World Cup.
During his meeting with representatives of the security agencies participating in this international platform, which includes delegations from several countries, including Morocco, the FBI Director praised the importance of security cooperation among international partners to ensure the success of the largest sporting event in the world, appreciating the contributions of various security delegations involved in this collective effort.
Morocco participates in this center through a security delegation representing the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, within the framework of an international mechanism for information exchange and operational coordination among the security agencies responsible for securing the 2026 World Cup matches.
This participation reflects the status that Moroccan security agencies have come to occupy on the international stage, having accumulated recognized expertise in combating terrorism, organized crime, and cross-border intelligence cooperation, which has made them a key partner in many international security initiatives.
Morocco’s engagement in the International Police Cooperation Center for the World Cup comes at a time when the importance of security coordination among countries is increasing to face challenges related to major sporting events, especially with the expectation of millions of fans traveling between the host countries of the tournament.
This participation also holds additional significance considering the country’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, as this direct presence within the security system for the 2026 World Cup provides an opportunity to enhance Moroccan expertise and familiarize itself with the latest internationally adopted models in managing security for major sporting events.
The participation of the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance in this international entity is viewed as an extension of the growing role that the Kingdom plays in international security issues, and as a consolidation of Morocco’s reputation as a reliable partner in the field of security cooperation and intelligence information exchange.
