The suspect had proceeded to threaten a young man with a white weapon during a robbery, in an incident that was recorded by a surveillance camera and quickly spread across social media, provoking a wide wave of anger and outrage among the Moroccan public.
Details of the Incident
In the footage taken on May 28, 2026, the victim is seen running in fear near a black car, shouting with all his strength “I’m begging for my mother,” in a desperate attempt to plead for mercy from his attacker. However, the attacker (who appeared in the video wearing black clothing) was fiercely chasing him, causing significant shock among viewers who expressed deep sympathy for the victim and strong condemnation of the excessive violence used.
The video spread widely, and hashtags such as #خدام_على_الواليدة and #الدار_البيضاء topped social media platforms, where thousands of Moroccans expressed their anger over the phenomenon of violent thefts and drug use, demanding stricter penalties for such crimes that have begun to instill fear in residential neighborhoods.
Speed of Security Intervention
Social media users praised the rapid intervention of the General Directorate of National Security, which managed to identify the suspect and arrest him in less than 24 hours. A security source stated that the investigation is still ongoing to identify other potential individuals involved in this network, with a judicial investigation opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
The suspect is expected to be presented before the public prosecutor at the appeals court in Casablanca to address the charges against him, which include violent theft, threats with a white weapon, and drug use.
