Three bodies were found in one of the houses of Azeeb Haj Kadour in the city of Tangier, while a fourth case in critical condition was transferred to the emergency room on Tuesday, January 27.
According to the available data, it is estimated that the victims died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by gas combustion, while the authorities opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
How Carbon Monoxide Causes Death
Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when carbon monoxide accumulates in the blood. When there are large amounts of carbon monoxide in the air, carbon monoxide displaces the oxygen in red blood cells. This can lead to severe tissue damage, or even death.
Carbon monoxide is a gas that has no odor, taste, or color. It is produced by burning fuel, including gas, wood, propane, or coal. Poorly ventilated appliances and engines can lead to carbon monoxide accumulating to dangerous levels. Tightly sealed spaces make the accumulation worse.
