Rise in the Level of Oued Sebou Forces Residents of Douars in Sidi Kacem to Evacuate Their Homes

The group of Hawafat associated with the Sidi Kacem region continued, on the evening of Sunday, February 1st, operations to evacuate citizens from several districts. This was part of the maximum mobilization of regional and local authorities coinciding with the rising water level of the Sebou River.

The efforts of the local authorities focused on implementing rapid and preventive evacuation operations for families residing in areas near the riverbanks. Particularly in the districts of “Hamidiyin,” “Dararisa,” “Azaib,” and “Sahrawi,” where residents were moved to safe and equipped areas.

This operation witnessed intensive field mobilization, in which members of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Civil Protection, and Auxiliary Forces participated, in close coordination with regional and local authorities, to manage the transportation of citizens and ensure its smoothness. All logistical means and necessary human resources were also mobilized to ensure the safety of citizens and their properties.

According to local authorities, alongside the evacuation measures, basic food assistance will be distributed to the population that was surrounded by water and affected by the disruption of the access roads to them. These are areas that are not directly threatened by flooding but are suffering from isolation due to the rising water levels.

These efforts fall within the framework of a large-scale emergency plan in the Sidi Kacem region aimed at securing sensitive points and avoiding the repercussions of adverse weather conditions on the rural population and infrastructure.
