The International University of Casablanca apologized after a professor posted a racist comment, stating that the statements circulated recently were made personally by someone she described as an associate, announcing the termination of her engagement with them.
This apology came after the professor “E.W.” posted a comment on a French site describing Senegalese people as “slaves” following Senegal’s victory over Morocco and winning the Africa Cup on January 18.
The university, in an official statement on Friday, January 23, said it fully assumes its ethical responsibility as an academic and educational institution. It expresses deep regret for the impact this incident may have caused, and understands the legitimate feelings of outrage it has provoked.
The administration stated that as soon as it became aware of the facts, it acted swiftly, seriously, and decisively. The incident underwent in-depth scrutiny, leading to a firm and final decision that aligns precisely with the university’s code of conduct and the applicable regulatory framework. The person involved no longer performs any duties within the institution.
The university called for calm, accountability, and mutual respect.
