On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, January 22, citizens found themselves trapped among the collected rainwater at the entrance of the city of Tangier. This occurred on the Tetouan road near the Marjane supermarket.
They stated in a call to Tangier7 that large pools of rainwater had formed on the national road number 2 at the city entrance, causing a disruption in traffic flow. These citizens confirmed that the drainage system failed to dispose of the water and appeared completely blocked, which jeopardized the safety of those passing through the area, even though they were inside their vehicles.
What increased the danger of the overflowing water on the aforementioned road, according to the same citizens, was the absence of any intervention teams from the Amenid service to secure the area and address the rainwater drainage issue there.
The entrance of the city of Tangier from the Tetouan side was not the only place submerged by rainwater, as circulated videos showed several areas in the city at the mercy of flooding, which the drains and sewage networks could not manage or dispose of.
