Abdel Latif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, held discussions on Wednesday in Rabat with ambassadors from the United Kingdom, Gabon, and Malaysia accredited to Morocco.
A statement from the Director General of National Security indicated that Hammouchi conducted extensive consultations with Alex Penfield, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom accredited in Rabat, covering various fields of advanced security cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides reviewed the levels and forms of distinguished cooperation between the Moroccan and British kingdoms in the security field, which includes areas such as border security, counter-terrorism, and combating transnational crime. They also discussed mechanisms to elevate this cooperation and expand its scope to match the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries.
The same source noted that the schedule of the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance continued with a meeting with Branly Martial Obolo, the Ambassador of the Gabonese Republic accredited in Rabat, where the meeting addressed ways to strengthen security cooperation between the two countries.
On this occasion, they also reviewed the security situation in the regional environment, especially in the Sahel and Sahara region, as well as the risks and threats arising from many emerging crises in the regional space of the two countries.
This meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to establish the foundations of a common strategic vision aimed at building a South-South police cooperation space, based on enhancing cooperation mechanisms in areas of police training, combating irregular migration networks, and monitoring and countering the movements of terrorist organizations in the Sahel and Sahara region.
On the other hand, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance discussed with Shihabuddin bin Adam Shah, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Morocco, mechanisms to enhance bilateral security cooperation between the two countries, and solidify the security partnership, including mutual technical assistance and operational cooperation.
The statement concluded that these bilateral meetings demonstrate the commitment of the Directorate General of National Security and the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance to activate security partnerships with friendly and brotherly countries, through a sustainable vision aimed at reinforcing effective integration to confront emerging criminal and terrorist threats, and enhancing channels for exchanging operational data and specialized training programs in police fields, as well as embodying the steadfast commitment of Moroccan security services to respond to all requests for cooperation that enhance security coordination between the Kingdom of Morocco and various brotherly and friendly countries.
