The Contracts with the State!!.. The Fate of Alza Tangier Workers is Decided on Tuesday

Representatives of the workers at the companies ‘Alsa’ and ‘Stiyam’ are expected to hold a meeting with the officials on Tuesday to decide the fate of the workers, after the ‘Tangier Mobility’ company took over the sector, amidst ambiguity regarding the status of the drivers and the fate of their contracts and rights.

The agreement to hold the meeting on Tuesday came after an initial meeting on Friday with the officials, following protests from Alsa drivers, who were informed of the departure of the Spanish company, without any clarifications regarding what comes next.

Worker representatives stated that the officials were limited to saying “it will be better” without opposing any requests concerning achievements and increases, but they did not provide sufficient and definitive answers regarding what is coming, leading to the decision to hold the meeting on Tuesday to resolve priority issues.

The same source confirmed that the meeting on Friday only reaffirmed that the drivers’ contracts, including seniority, are now in the hands of the state, referring to the ‘Tangier Mobility’ company, which will assume responsibility from now on as the “guarantor.”

It is expected that the meeting on Tuesday will finalize the issue of “voluntary departure,” as well as determine how work will proceed in the new company. The workers confirmed they will ensure their rights are protected and that if this is not the case, they will take appropriate action and announce it.

It is worth noting that the operation of the new buses will start on Monday in Tangier, while the workers will undergo training on Saturday and Sunday.
