The representative of the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Rabat denied the detention of members of the “families of the victims of the Qal’aa events,” confirming that they were only brought to the police station for refusing to disperse an unauthorized gathering.
The public prosecutor’s office stated, “Following what was circulated on some social media platforms regarding the alleged detention of individuals from the families of the ‘victims of the Qal’aa events,’ these claims are untrue. On December 9, 2025, a few individuals residing in the city of Qal’aa carried out an unauthorized gathering in the public road in front of the Parliament building in Rabat, which included hanging banners on the iron fence surrounding this institution.”
It added, “In the interest of upholding the law, members of the public authority intervened peacefully as required by law and requested them to disperse and leave the area, which the individuals did not comply with, necessitating their transfer to the headquarters of the competent judicial police service where they were directed to follow the appropriate legal procedures related to their demands and were released, without resorting to any measures affecting their liberty. No individual was placed under provisional detention, nor was any arrest warrant issued against them, contrary to what was promoted on some social media platforms regarding this matter.”
