Educational institutions in Tangier have begun to warn parents of students after news circulated about the distribution of “drugged sweets” in the vicinity of the institutions.
Last week, an audio recording widely spread through “parents’ groups” and institutional associations, containing a warning about deceiving students and offering them “sweets” that are actually narcotic and hallucinogenic substances.
In light of the spread of this recording, institutions began warning parents and issuing flyers indicating that the “drugged sweets” are related to the drug “ecstasy,” noting that cases of its promotion have been recorded around some schools, and that it is offered to students in the form of sweets or small colored pieces to deceive them.
The flyer emphasized the dangers of consuming the “piece” as it causes serious disorders in the brain, rapid heartbeat, loss of consciousness, and hallucinations, and that in some cases it may lead to fatal complications.
Associations and institutions advised parents to discuss the matter with their children and to emphasize not accepting any sweets or substances from strangers or even from some students. They also called for monitoring any sudden changes in the child’s behavior or activity.
In cases where these situations are detected, there was a call to immediately inform the institutions’ administration and the authorities.
