The prison administration accused the son of Mohamed Zayan of pushing his father towards self-harm after allegations of a hunger strike, considering that the son, who is also a lawyer, previously tried to prevent the detainee from stopping the hunger strike.
The administration of Al-Arjat 1 prison responded to a statement issued by the prisoner’s family, which claims that “the individual concerned has entered into a hunger strike in protest against his continued detention after his sentence has expired,” stating that the mentioned prisoner is eating his meals normally.
It emphasized, in a clarification statement, that the prisoner (M.Z) did not present any notice to the administration of the institution about entering into a hunger strike, adding that “everything mentioned in his family’s statement is unfounded.”
The same source noted that the son of the detainee, who is also his lawyer, discussing the individual’s hunger strike without it being true is akin to “pushing him towards self-harm due to the serious consequences of a hunger strike on his health.”
It pointed out that “the person concerned previously attempted to dissuade his father from ending a hunger strike that he had entered into on February 15, 2024, for 24 hours, reaching the point of shouting at him to persuade him against it, which confirms each time his unethical attempt to mislead public opinion, even if it requires leading his imprisoned father to harm himself.”
