On the evening of Tuesday, November 18, Abdul Latif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, presided over the annual excellence ceremony organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works for National Security Employees at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat. This event commemorated the seventieth anniversary of Independence Day.
Among those in attendance were security officers and police staff from various ranks and specialties, representing both the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. The ceremony also included many retired national security personnel, as well as children and orphans from police families, along with several invited guests from institutional partners, including universities, service companies, and public institutions that collaborate with the foundation.
The General Directorate of National Security stated that the event marked the annual tradition of honoring children and orphans from national security families who achieved remarkable academic success, receiving the highest grades in the 2024-2025 baccalaureate exams. During the occasion, they were awarded scholarships and monetary prizes to encourage them to continue their university education.
The financial incentives included university scholarships valued at fifty thousand dirhams, distributed over five years at ten thousand dirhams annually, serving as a financial incentive to support the children of its employees in pursuing higher education.
A total of 25 students benefited from this financial scholarship, having achieved the highest grades and enrolled in prestigious educational institutions.
The second part of the financial incentives included exceptional financial support ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 dirhams, delivered directly to children and orphans from national security families who excelled in their academic examinations during the past school year.
The ceremony saw the attendance of 68 students, with an additional 102 similar scholarships set to be awarded to other beneficiaries during regional recognition events planned for the coming days.
In addition to the academic excellence grants provided since 2021, the Mohammed VI Foundation launched an ambitious social program last year to establish partnerships and agreements with many higher academic institutions to facilitate the admission of academically excellent children and orphans of police employees.
The directorate’s statement noted that the annual event continued with the recognition of several police employees who excelled in various artistic and sports competitions organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works throughout the year. This initiative supports social work and promotes a culture of creativity among national security members.
The event included the recognition of the Security of Laayoune team, which secured first place in the annual indoor football tournament, as well as the teams that placed second and third. Additionally, police employees who won top positions in the Arab Cross Country Championship hosted in Iraq were honored and awarded financial and material incentives to help them maintain their athletic achievements at both local and international levels.
For the first time, this year’s annual ceremony featured the recognition of several retired national security personnel aged over 80. They were welcomed and presented with certificates of appreciation and material gifts, reinforcing the feelings of gratitude and recognition that the General Directorate of National Security extends to its employees throughout their careers and during their retirement.
The recognition process is expected to encompass a large segment of retired national security personnel in the near future, with home visits planned for those unable to attend the retirement ceremonies.
The event also included financial rewards for six police officers who won in the visual arts competition, which featured participation from 37 officers presenting 52 artworks judged by experts from the Ministry of Culture.
The competition resulted in the selection of several artworks created by police employees to be displayed in open art exhibitions aimed at showcasing the artistic side of the national security family.
In addition to the distinguished artworks of police employees, the exhibition showcased pieces created by children of national security beneficiaries from summer camps organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation, reflecting a blend of childhood spontaneity and emerging artistic talent.
The statement concluded that this year’s annual excellence ceremony introduced several innovations, most notably the increased number of beneficiaries receiving financial scholarships and academic achievement awards, along with the integration of honoring retired national security personnel into a new vision aimed at connecting the present with the past among police family members. This initiative forms part of a comprehensive system of social services and health care aligned with the royal support provided by King Mohammed VI to the national security and territorial surveillance family.
