The Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Tangier issued a 15-year prison sentence on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to a 16-year-old (born in 2009) accused of luring a 6-year-old girl and intentionally killing her after sexually assaulting her.
The ruling angered the victim’s mother, who demanded the harshest penalties, stating her desire for either the death penalty or life imprisonment, which is difficult to achieve due to the perpetrator’s age.
The victim, Hidaya, was the daughter of the neighbors of the accused in the city of Ksar el Kebir (south of Tangier). This crime shocked Moroccan public opinion due to its brutality.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Ksar el Kebir. The case began with a report of the child’s disappearance, and her body was later found in an abandoned area bearing signs of severe physical violence and sexual assault.
Judicial police conducted extensive investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor, which included collecting fingerprints and using surveillance cameras, leading to the suspect’s arrest on the same day due to suspicions of his involvement. The accused confessed to his crime during preliminary interrogations.
