On Tuesday in Tangier, the death of an infant was announced after she sustained an injury resulting in internal bleeding at a childcare center in the Al-Qawadis neighborhood of Bir Chifa.
Official information revealed that an 8-year-old girl caused the fall of the infant after being tasked by the center’s management to transport her from a high place.
Context of the Tragic Incident
The case emerged when the parents of the infant reported a suspicious accidental fall to the judicial police in the Beni Makada district. According to the daycare owner, the infant fell from a high place where she had been placed, prompting immediate transfer to the hospital. Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, medical reports indicated that the infant died from severe complications, primarily internal bleeding in the head due to severe bruises and injuries.
The childcare center, operating under a legal license from the relevant authorities, is facing severe criticism for unsanitary conditions for the children. Security sources indicate that the facility houses children in an environment that does not meet health and safety standards, contributing to the escalation of the situation.
Unimaginable Negligence
The Beni Makada judicial police are conducting intensive investigations into the case, beginning with witness interrogations and reviewing surveillance camera footage from within the daycare.
These investigations revealed that an employee had instructed the 8-year-old girl to carry the infant, but the minor was unable to handle the responsibility, leading to multiple falls of the infant.
Absence of Criminal Intent
According to information obtained, the minor, who is in second grade at a school in the Bir Chifa neighborhood, was at the daycare as part of a language support program due to her parents’ professional commitments requiring them to leave her in the care of the institution. During questioning, the girl’s mother was found to be wanted by the authorities regarding a case of a bounced check, leading to her immediate transfer to the appropriate security services. The child herself was handed over to her father under the instructions of the relevant public prosecutor’s office, given the absence of criminal intent or responsibility due to her age.
Legal Proceedings
Under the directives of the public prosecutor’s office, investigations have encompassed all parties involved in the case. The daycare owner and the employee are currently in police custody for further inquiry into the full circumstances and details of the incident. These actions aim to uncover any administrative negligence or other violations that may have contributed to the tragedy, focusing on the lack of appropriate preventive measures for the safety of children.
