All defendants in the riots that occurred in Larache following the Generation Z demonstrations on October 1 denied the charges against them. All claimed that they had no connections to Generation Z or participation in the protests.
During the discussion of the case at the Court of Appeal in Tangier, the accused stated that all allegations against them were fabricated and false. They also claimed that they signed statements without reviewing their content.
The 17 youths stated that they were arrested in locations far from the demonstrations and that the streets were calm with no signs of violence. This contradicts the charges against them, which include throwing stones at police, vandalizing institutions, and assaulting the local authority’s office.
The defense argued that the young individuals were being prosecuted solely based on police reports, which contain conflicting and contradictory information.
One lawyer referenced the case of “Munir Q,” stating that the young man was brought to the police station at 10 PM after being arrested before the riots erupted. However, in another report, he was accused of setting fire to an officer’s motorcycle at 11:30 PM.
The lawyer pointed out that this case raises doubts about the credibility of the reports. How can a young man be charged with a crime while in police custody an hour and a half earlier?
