Exploitation of Legitimate and Peaceful Demands of Generation Z by a Small Group

The representative of the public prosecutor in Tangier confirmed that the “Generation Z” protests, which began on September 27, were peaceful, despite a security response to unknown calls for demonstrations. This situation was later exploited by a group that engaged in violent acts on October 1.

During the trial of the Larache troublemakers, the public prosecutor stated that demands for health, employment, and education are legitimate among all peoples and emphasized that the “Generation Z” protests advocating for these demands were peaceful, with security forces facilitating the movements in accordance with the law.

Conversely, the prosecutor noted that a group of individuals exploited the situation to commit acts of vandalism and to attack security forces, harming both private and public interests.

In response to the detained individuals’ denials of involvement and accusations against the police of fabricating charges, the prosecutor affirmed that since September 27, multiple individuals have been arrested, and after verifying their identities, they were released without charges, with their cases being closed. This, however, does not apply to the troublemakers, as all were apprehended in the act of throwing stones or vandalizing property.

The public prosecutor clarified that the police acted in accordance with the law and established protocols, and assured that no innocent person was imprisoned nor were false accusations attributed to anyone.
