A bus operated by the “alsa” transportation company in Tangier experienced a mechanical failure on Saturday, October 25, resulting in it becoming stranded in the middle of the road on Mohammed V Street, in front of the “Difadcto” store.
The breakdown of the bus, which connects Iberia and Magouga Al-Saghira, led to traffic congestion and disrupted vehicular movement. This also delayed passengers and exposed them to various potential issues and hazards.
Witnesses reported that the bus driver did not leave his seat to assist passengers in disembarking or to ensure their safe exit from the bus. Additionally, he failed to place a warning sign behind the bus to alert other road users to the danger, increasing the likelihood of accidents in the vicinity.
This incident recalls a series of breakdowns and accidents experienced by some buses of “alsa Tanger” over the past few months, which have drawn criticism from public transport users in Tangier regarding the maintenance standards and quality of services provided by the company.
