On the evening of Friday, October 17, a police officer from the motorcycle unit in Casablanca committed a premeditated murder using his service weapon against a female acquaintance, whom he was accompanying in a private car.
During an intervention by a police patrol to apprehend the suspect, he attempted to flee and fired two shots. No injuries were reported among the security personnel involved in the intervention.
The suspect then attempted to take his own life by shooting himself, resulting in a severe head injury. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the victim’s body was transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy.
In response, the judicial police service in Casablanca has launched an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine the circumstances, details, and motivations behind the incident.
Field research and technical expertise are ongoing to uncover the motives and reasons for this crime, which preliminary data suggest may be emotionally motivated.
