On Tuesday, October 7, security forces discovered narcotic tablets concealed within children’s toys at the Port of Tangier Med. The authorities successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of drugs, totaling 21,142 medical narcotic tablets of various types.
This seizure occurred following a monitoring operation conducted by national security personnel using trained police dogs in a commercial vehicle registered abroad. The vehicle had just arrived on a maritime journey from one of the Spanish ports. The investigation revealed that the narcotics were carefully hidden inside the children’s toys.
The operation led to the arrest of the vehicle’s driver, a Moroccan citizen, who is currently being held under provisional detention pending investigations overseen by the competent public prosecutor. This is aimed at identifying all potential local and international connections related to this criminal activity.
