At least 25 people were injured, three of them seriously, in a gas explosion that occurred today, Saturday, inside a restaurant in Madrid, Spain, according to local authorities.
Emergency services reported that civil protection and medical teams attended to all the injured, noting that the condition of three individuals is serious.
A spokesperson for the Madrid fire department told the media that the explosion resulted from a “gas leak.”
The same source indicated that firefighters continued debris removal operations inside the restaurant located in the popular Vallecas neighborhood throughout the afternoon.
Images released by emergency services in Madrid via X showed a partially collapsed ceiling, with debris scattered on the ground. The explosion also blew off doors and sent glass shards into the street.
