The Currency Office Announces a New Strategy Based on Six Key Points

The Bureau of Foreign Exchange has released its new strategy for the period from 2025 to 2029, with a focus on innovation, digital transformation, and enhancing user experience.

According to a memo from the Bureau, this roadmap was developed through a participatory approach and aims to position the Bureau as a committed player in economic development while maintaining external balances.

The strategy is built on six priority pillars: organizational innovation, smart monitoring, updating statistical production, digital transformation, improving user experience, and responsible governance, reflecting a renewed vision for public service.

Idris Ben Sheikh, Director General of the Bureau, noted that the strategy is guided by the royal directives of King Mohammed VI and builds upon the achievements of previous work programs. It also incorporates developments in both the national and international environments.

He emphasized that this roadmap aims to align institutional priorities with user expectations while responding effectively and flexibly to emerging challenges.

Ben Sheikh indicated that the adopted directions reflect a desire to enhance the regulatory framework for foreign exchange, implement intelligent monitoring systems targeted at high-risk areas, and improve the quality of statistical production to assist decision-makers in both the public and private sectors. Additionally, it seeks to accelerate digital transformation and reshape the user relationship.

The first pillar, focusing on organizational innovation, aims to simplify the regulatory framework for clearer understanding and navigation of foreign exchange regulations.

The second pillar aims to develop smart monitoring of financial flows to ensure sustainable trust and a resilient economy. The third pillar focuses on strengthening statistical functions for informed decision-making.

The fourth pillar, concerning digital transformation, is geared towards accelerating digital transformation and enhancing cybersecurity. The fifth pillar, which addresses improving user experience, seeks to enhance the user’s interaction through simplicity and accessibility.

Finally, the last pillar aims to establish responsible and sustainable governance in support of institutional development.
