During the week from June 23 to June 29, Morocco experienced 2,084 traffic accidents, resulting in 31 fatalities and injuries to 2,862 individuals, 120 of whom sustained serious injuries.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the primary causes of these accidents were driver inattention and failure to yield. Additional contributing factors included excessive speeding, pedestrian inattention, insufficient safe distance, loss of vehicle control, improper lane changes, and disregarding stop signs. Other violations included driving against traffic and failing to adhere to red traffic signals, as well as driving under the influence and improper overtaking.
In terms of enforcement and monitoring, law enforcement reported a total of 47,590 traffic violations, resulting in 7,963 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office. Authorities issued 39,897 fines, totaling 8,596,425 dirhams.
The report also noted that 5,726 vehicles were impounded, and 7,693 documents were confiscated, while 659 vehicles were subjected to suspension.
