On Tuesday, July 1, in Rabat, Abdelatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, welcomed Ali Obaid Al-Dhaheri, the head of the National Intelligence Agency of the United Arab Emirates, who was accompanied by a high-level security delegation. This visit aimed to enhance mechanisms for cooperation, mutual assistance, and expand areas of security coordination and partnerships.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance indicated that discussions focused on strengthening operational cooperation, security coordination, and improving mechanisms for information exchange. These efforts are intended to address various security challenges and threats, particularly those related to terrorism in different areas of conflict.
The meeting also included an assessment of escalating security challenges in Africa, particularly in the Sahel and Sahara regions, and explored ways to enhance joint work between Morocco and the UAE to combat the rise of terrorism in the region, which has become an increasing concern not only for neighboring countries but also for global security and peace.
According to the statement, these discussions reflect the desire of the security institutions in both Morocco and the UAE to solidify their partnership and broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation, thereby mitigating risks to the security and safety of both countries in their regional and international contexts.
