The Kingdom of Morocco has strongly condemned the missile attack targeting the sovereignty and airspace of the State of Qatar.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates on Monday, Morocco expressed its full solidarity with Qatar against any threats to its security and the tranquility of its citizens.
### Iranian Attack
On Monday, June 23, Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which houses U.S. forces. This action was reportedly a response to American strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22.
The attack on Al Udeid, the largest U.S. military base in the region, marks a significant escalation in the conflict between Iran and the United States, raising concerns about a potential regional war.
### Background of the Attack
Tensions in the Middle East escalated in June 2025 following an Israeli attack on Iran on June 13, targeting military leaders and nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Iran launched missiles and drones against Israel, leading to mutual losses. Amid this escalation, the United States, under President Donald Trump, conducted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. The U.S. employed B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles in what was described as a precise and successful operation. Iran termed the attack a “blatant aggression” and vowed to respond decisively.
### Details of the Attack on Al Udeid
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps officially stated that the attack on Al Udeid, dubbed “Operation Basharat al-Fath,” was carried out using precision ballistic missiles aimed at “punishing the American enemy.”
Located west of Doha, the base serves as a strategic center for U.S. Central Command, hosting thousands of troops and managing operations in the region. Iran reported that the operation was conducted under the supervision of the “Qassem Soleimani” forces and approved by the Supreme National Security Council.
According to media reports, Iran had previously notified Qatar of its intention to target the base, enabling the U.S. to evacuate some military assets. Qatar briefly closed its airspace and instructed citizens and residents to seek safety.
While Qatari authorities have not issued a detailed report on the damage, U.S. sources have indicated that the attack caused limited damage, thanks in part to air defense systems like the Patriot. No casualties have been reported thus far, though the situation remains uncertain.
