A 12-year-old boy drowned at the Diplomatic Forest Beach (Foret Mériquaine) near Tangier while on a family outing on Friday, June 20.
Despite attempts to rescue him, the waves pulled the child into the sea, and his body was not immediately recovered.
Approximately 24 hours after the incident, the tides of the Tangier Sea washed up the boy’s body at the “Mitragaz” beach. The remains were retrieved and taken to the morgue at “Duc de Tovar” hospital.
It is noted that the “Mériquaine” area is considered one of the most dangerous beaches in Tangier, alongside “Sidi Kassem” and, to a lesser extent, “Achqaar.”
