Security Threat Forces Pilgrims’ Flight to Alter Its Course

A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight was forced to change its route on Saturday morning, June 21, landing urgently at Kualanamu International Airport in Indonesia due to a reported security threat.

The flight was carrying 378 passengers, mostly pilgrims returning home, along with 13 crew members. After receiving the security threat during the flight—which later turned out to be false—the situation was handled according to standard safety procedures.

The airline redirected the plane from Surabaya to Kualanamu International Airport as a precautionary measure. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

Authorities conducted necessary inspections upon landing at Kualanamu International Airport, confirming the aircraft’s safety before allowing it to continue its journey.

Saudi Arabian Airlines emphasized its commitment to the security of its flights and the safety of its passengers and crew, stating that it provided full care and support to all guests. Arrangements are currently being made for their travel back to their original destination, Surabaya, Indonesia.

This incident marks the second time in less than a week that Saudi Arabian Airlines has altered the route of its flights due to false security threats. Earlier, a flight from Jeddah to Jakarta was redirected following a report of a bomb threat.
