Minister Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid stated that he will resort to legal action against anyone involved in fabricating, publishing, or promoting “false allegations” against him, denying at the same time what has been published, confirming that it is mere slander.
An online site published news without naming the minister, claiming that there are rumors circulating that “a bag carrier and a minister in Akhannouch’s government and a leader from the government coalition” promised one of those arrested in the “Desert Escobar” case acquittal in exchange for “money.”
Facebook pages directed accusations no less serious, as they manipulated the published news on the online site, alleging the minister’s involvement in the activities of the “Desert Escobar” gang based on “non-existent” statements attributed to the main character in this file, “Hajj Ben Ibrahim.”

“Following what an online site and some pages on social media circulated regarding false accusations and allegations, related to a case currently before the judiciary; these allegations which I follow with great astonishment due to their direct assault on my person and the dignity of my family, as well as the responsibility I am honored to bear, and the party to which I belong. In the light of this systematic smear campaign that has crossed the boundaries of criticism, to touch upon honor and personal consideration through extremely serious accusations, I declare to public opinion the following:
First: I affirm that everything propagated in terms of distortions and accusations is pure lies and fake news and serious slanders that cannot be overlooked; this campaign, which lacks the slightest standards of credibility and objectivity, aims solely to mislead public opinion and directly harm my person.
Second: I, as I always have, firmly believe in freedom of expression and the pivotal role of constructive criticism in enhancing public work; however, what I am experiencing today has nothing to do with freedom of opinion, but rather is a systematic and deliberate attack aimed at tarnishing my reputation through the dissemination of lies and unfounded serious allegations.
Third: Based on what has been presented and starting from my complete trust in the judiciary, I have decided to pursue all legal procedures and resort to the courts against anyone involved in fabricating, publishing, or promoting these false allegations, in defense of rights and in consideration of the rule of law, and I will only demand restitution and symbolic compensation.
Fourth: I affirm that these desperate attempts to disrupt me will only increase my determination to continue performing my duties and serving my country with integrity and dedication, focusing on the major projects that concern the sectors for which I am responsible, away from the “illusion” conflicts that some attempt to drag us into.”
