Operation New Port.. Moroccan Intelligence Information Takes Down 3 Smugglers

The Spanish Civil Guard stated that it thwarted the smuggling of 877 kilograms of hashish to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and arrested three people in a joint operation with the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance in Morocco.

In an operation named “The New Port,” the Moroccan National Territorial Surveillance Directorate provided the Spanish side with precise intelligence information, which allowed for tracking the movements of the traffickers for several weeks.

At the scheduled time for the hashish to be introduced, a rubber boat was spotted, from which approximately 23 bundles were unloaded and transferred to a truck that was waiting for them, but the authorities intervened, seizing the shipment and arresting the traffickers.

The Civil Guard stated that the success of this operation reflects the effectiveness of international cooperation between Spain and Morocco in combating drug trafficking across the Strait of Gibraltar and the maritime routes leading to the Canary Islands, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to dismantle cross-border criminal networks.
