The General Directorate of Meteorology reported, in an updated alert bulletin of an orange vigilance level, that heavy rain, sometimes thunderous, as well as snowfall and strong wind gusts are expected in several regions. This is set to occur from Thursday to Monday (January 22 to 26).
The Directorate clarified that strong rain, sometimes thunderous, is expected starting from Friday at midnight until Saturday at six in the morning. The amounts will range between 70 and 100 mm in the districts and provinces of Tetouan, Larache, Chefchaouen, Wazan, Al Hoceima, Taounate, and Taza.
And between 50 and 65 mm in Azilal, Beni Mellal, Meknes, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khénifra, Fez, Sefrou, Kenitra, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Moulay Yacoub, Sidi Qassem, Sidi Slimane, Driouch, and Khemisset.
And between 20 and 40 mm in Rabat, Sale, Skhirat-Témara, Benslimane, Mohammedia, Médiouna, Berrechid, Casablanca, Nouasseur, Berrechid, Settat, and Al Haouz.
The same phenomenon (from 60 to 100 mm) is also expected in the districts and provinces of Tetouan, Larache, Chefchaouen, Wazan, Taounate, Al Hoceima, Taza, Kenitra, Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Moulay Yacoub, Khénifra, Meknes, Khemisset, Ifrane, Sefrou, Sidi Qassem, and Sidi Slimane. This will begin on Sunday at midnight until Monday at six in the morning.
Regarding the snowfall, the Directorate expects it to start from elevations of 1200 meters, from Friday at noon until midday on Saturday.
The amounts will range between 20 and 50 cm in Sefrou, Taza, Kérisif, Boulemane, Ifrane, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Khénifra, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate, and between 5 and 15 cm in Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Tawrirt, and Chichaoua.
As for the strong wind gusts (from 75 to 95 km/h), they will affect Tangier-Assilah, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Fahs-Anjra, Figuig, Driouch, Kérisif, Boulemane, Taza, Sefrou, Ifrane, and Midelt. This will start on Thursday at three in the afternoon until Friday at the same time.
The Directorate indicated that these strong winds will also affect the districts and provinces of Mdiq-Fnideq, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, Larache, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Fahs-Anjra, Kérisif, Figuig, Driouch, Nador, Sefrou, Ifrane, Boulemane, Taza, Kenitra, Azilal, Al Haouz, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, and Guelmim. This will begin on Friday at six in the evening until Saturday at the same time.
